CANON INFORMATION
CHARACTER NAME: Bowser
CANON: Super Mario Bros.
HISTORY: Here you are!
STRENGTHS:
♕ Determination) Bowser doesn't know the meaning of the word "give up". At least, not entirely. While he does occasionally know to cut his losses and retreat, he'll always be back to accomplish his goals in the next game or even the next chapter. Most of the time, however, he'll have to be thrown out rather than leave willingly.
♕ Confidence) Sometimes boarding on arrogance and other times sailing right over than and into obsession, Bowser nevertheless believes in himself quite a bit. He finds himself strong, handsome, smart, and a good leader. While some of these are indeed true to a degree, it's generally not to the degree that Bowser thinks it is. Far from a wall flower or shy guy, Bowser is boisterous and has no issue just getting out there and doing something without anything in his mind holding him back.
♕ A Born Leader) Despite numerous setbacks and his furious temper, Bowser still has people working with and under him. Not only that, many of his underlings and those in his kingdom respect and adore Bowser. He's a great father to Bowser Jr. and can be surprisingly understanding of those under him. While his temper can get the better of him and lead to some harsh punishments, overall he genuinely cares about his underlings and tries to lead them to the best of his abilities. Furthermore, he's quite skilled at planning and has even caught Mario and the gang off guard numerous times and lead successful invasions on the Mushroom Kingdom and other targets.
FLAWS:
♕ Short-Tempered) Out of all Bowser's flaws, this is probably his biggest. To say Bowser's got a short fuse is an understatement and a half. In one of the early scenes of Bowser's Inside Story, Bowser crashes the gathering of the Mushroom Kingdom's leaders, saying that he should have a say in their plan regarding the disease overtaking the land since he lives there, too. Of course this is a little far-fetched. Yet even if you want to take his word at face value, the second Mario shows his mustachioed face all potential for good faith is gone. Bowser drops any kind of pretense and just decides to beat up Mario and kidnap Peach right there.
His temper also makes it incredibly easy to manipulate him or rile him up and he's prone to making enemies incredibly easily as a result of his temper.
♕ Simple-Minded) Let's face facts here: Bowser isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. While he's certainly gotten a bit smarter over the years to show he isn't the dullest, he gets duped by others pretty consistently and is very weak to flattery. Though he did betray Antasma in Dream Team before he could try to betray him and even inhaled the Dream Shards instead of letting his plan get ruined, it doesn't change the fact that he's easily confused and tends to rely on his brawn rather than his brain. Like, this is the guy that didn't even recognize his younger self.
♕ Spiteful) There's holding a grudge and then there's Bowser. Bowser absolutely cannot stand when anyone gets in his way for any reason. If you've ever slighted him in any way, he'll remember it and won't let it slide too easily. How he reacts depends on the offense, but generally speaking he'll make them pay one way or another. Mario is the biggest example of this and while he has been shown to have a somewhat friendly rivalry with the red plumber at times, he wants to crush Mario at all costs and prove once and for all that he's the better man.
CANON ABILITIES: Here you are!
AU INFORMATION
AU CHARACTER NAME: Bowser II
AGE: 103
POSITION: PE Instructor, although if he can teach another class he would totally teach Ghost Punching. He's the best at punching things.
AU BACKSTORY:
♕ Bowser was born into the Koopa Clan as the direct heir to the Bowser Kingdom's throne as son of the king of fire.
♕ During most of his youth, Bowser's father didn't really play much of a role in his life. For most of his early years the two magikoopas Kamek and Kammy raised him and tutored him.
♕ At some point early on, Bowser's father attempted to cast a spell that would grant him the ability to change the future and shift it to his side. Instead of working as intended, it granted seven babies (including Bowser himself) the title of star children incredible powers, though at the price of being tied to the stories prophesied long ago.
♕ It was also around this point that Bowser's father was destroyed by the combined efforts of the star children and his own insanity and arrogance.
♕ After this Bowser's life was that of a typical prince. Minus the fact that he had a lot of growing up to do and a short amount of time to do so. As you can tell the results were mixed at best, but Kamek and Kammy's tutelage paid off even so. Bowser proved to be an exceptional king to his people.
♕ However it wasn't long before Bowser set his sights beyond his kingdom. His kingdom and the Mushroom Kingdom were quite close, to the point where few even knew where one border ended and the other's began. It's not like it really mattered; the two kingdoms were destined to fight with each other forever and thus any little thing would add fuel to the fire.
♕ In order to destabilize the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser kidnapped Princess Peach and held her hostage in his castle. Initially this was a political move, but it wasn't long before the koopa king found himself smitten with Peach. Over time his affection for her grew until he was in love.
♕ As expected Peach did not reciprocate these feelings. Nevertheless, this did little to dissuade his feelings for her. Before long Mario came along to take down a great deal of his army and eventually the king of fire himself.
♕ It was at this point that the prophecy began to be fulfilled. Bowser would repeat his role of kidnapping the princess or invading the Mushroom Kingdom and Mario would step in and put a stop to it.
♕ That isn't to say that the process is always the same. Bowser actually does have a few victories under his belt. The main issue is that they're generally short-lived. In many cases Bowser will defeat Mario at the start of his plans, only to lose to him in subsequent encounters until he's finally defeated. Many of these have involved Bowser gaining a new magical item (one of the main ones being the Star Rod) while others were simple strategic planning and a surprise attack to catch the plumber off guard.
♕ Despite the roles of the Star Children being largely set in stone, Bowser and Mario have occasionally worked together, such as when a larger force threatens to cause mass destruction. They've also competed against each other in various sports tournaments. Although Bowser generally goes along with this as a way to prove to Mario he's the better man.
♕ The most recent bout with Mario ended up shaking things up in a curious way for the koopa king. Throughout the years they've fought, Bowser convinced himself that Peach would love him, as she does seem to have some fondness for Bowser at times (providing he's not trying to kidnap her or be a general nuisance), providing that Mario was out of the picture. To his surprise, the latest adventure proved that this wasn't the case.
♕ In an attempt to make Peach his and end the chain they've been stuck in for years with a victory for team Bowser, he recruited some help from a group called the Broodals, kidnapped Peach (again), stole several powerful artifacts (and a being, such as the spirit of a young girl whom Bowser bound to a tiara for Peach to wear), and began the preparations to marry Peach. Mario tried to stop his plan early, but ended up being knocked off of Bowser's ship and sent into one of the kingdoms below.
♕ After Bowser had been defeated, Mario tried to offer Peach a flower. Bowser quickly rushed in to do the same and before long the two ended up fighting with each other. Peach, irritated at the whole affair, turned them both down. This hit Bowser exceptionally hard, hard enough to actually get the big brute to shed a few tears (and Mario to comfort him before Peach and Mario and the reunited brother and sister spirits ditched him.)
♕ Suffice to say Bowser's still reeling a bit from that. He's trying to ignore this revelation a bit, but it's not exactly the easiest thing in the world. Even so, it's still very much in his interests to defeat Mario. Which is part of the reason why he's decided to work with Daybreak Academy. Bowser wishes to prove that he's a much better teacher than Mario ever could be. He also wants to prevent Nightfall, because he wants the world to be conquered by him rather than have a lot of it wiped out. Also he doesn't want to share with the other beings of the Outlands. What have they ever done for him besides stab him in the back?
AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION: Honestly? No real differences other than the change that he has a bit of a sort spot for kids. Mostly because of his own son, though. Not that this changes the fact that he's still a big jerk and has no intention of hiding it.
RACE: Koopa, if possible? If not, just a magical dragon turtle is generally fine.
SECRET SOCIETY: Bowser generally doesn't have any connections with secret societies save for Daybreak. He might have had an ongoing relationship with the mages, but it was mostly through his mentors Kamek and Kammy and likely didn't bother with them once he became an adult.
POWERS: The main power that Bowser has is his ability to breath fire. He can breath a stream of fire or shoot fireballs from his mouth. Generally these start out pretty hot and powerful, but continued use wears down their effectiveness over time. In turn he's also resistant to most forms of fire including fire magic and even lava.
Aside from his fire powers, the koopa king is also incredibly strong. His punches hit hard enough to shatter boulders like glass and can lift and pull things several times his size and weight with varying degrees of ease. Heavier things require concentration, adrenaline and copious amounts of determination to pull off, though.
When under extreme stress and danger, Bowser can use his magical powers and latent abilities to have himself temporarily grow gigantic. While this does leave his body in good condition upon returning to normal, this power is incredibly inconsistent and difficult for him to use on demand, even in life or death situations. Though his insane endurance and durability help even the odds in his favor. The sheer number of times he's been dropped from massive heights, fallen into lava, blown up, etc. and yet still come back for more is frankly concerning. Nevertheless, he is capable of dying. Many a time Bowser would have been dead to rights were it not for Kamek's meddling or his giant ability kicking in to save him as the last second.
Bowser also does know a bit of magic, being able to transform things and even teleport and can use magical items, including some of the ones Mario can, but generally speaking he doesn't bother to use these (unless Mario is using them too, it's kind of a trend that most new power-ups/abilities that Mario gets, Bowser will also use). Either because he forgot he can do them or because he'd much rather just burn things or punch them until they stop moving. Again, he's a very simple man. Dragon. Turtle.

RP SAMPLE
Here is a link to his test drive thread. I also did the interview prompts below.
INTERVIEW SAMPLE PROMPT
(The following scenario is available to all characters who are apping in and is considered canon - all prospective teachers for the academy are interviewed by staff members to ensure they're a good fit. The definition of "good fit" seems to vary wildly from staffer to staffer.)
1. TELL US ABOUT YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND.
Getting right to the meat of things, huh? Gehahaha, alright! If you really wanna know, I'll tell you. For starter's, my son's homeschooled. Taught my boy everything he knows! I was tutored a lot back when I was a little brat, so I've got a pretty good grip on that stuff. Graduated Koopa University to boot!
2. TELL US ABOUT YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE.
You deaf or something? What, is my son not good enough? Too bad! Like I said, I taught my son everything he knows. I also personally train my elite troops in combat and physical education.
3. WHAT UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES DO YOU THINK YOU BRING TO THE ACADEMY?
Most of you chumps overthink things WAY too much! I think a guy like with me big goals and a simple way to get 'em would settle in just fine. Besides, you guys wanna fight daemons, right? You're gonna want to know how they think, and who better to teach you that than the King of Awesome?
4. WHAT, IN YOUR OPINION, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR A SCHOOL TO PROVIDE TO ITS STUDENTS
Street smarts! All that fancy book-learning is cute, but it ain't gonna help you much out in the real world.
5. DESCRIBE YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE AND HOW YOU INTERACT WITH COWORKERS.
Bluntly! Beating around the bush is for pansies.
6. HOW DO YOU ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO PUSH THEMSELVES AND TAKE THEIR SCHOOLWORK SERIOUSLY?
I'll tell 'em that I know they can do it and all that mushy junk. And if that doesn't work, I'll just let 'em know what'll happen if they fail.
7. HOW DO YOU MANAGE STUDENTS WHO ARE DEFIANT OR ACTING OUT?
Embarrass 'em in front of the other brats. Kids HATE that.
8. HOW DO YOU ENCOURAGE AND MENTOR STUDENTS WHO ARE STRUGGLING OR DEPRESSED?
The only way to lose by giving up! If you never give up, you'll never lose!
9. WHAT, IN YOUR OPINION, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON TO TEACH EVERY STUDENT WHO WALKS THROUGH OUR DOORS?
Nobody else's opinion matters except for yours! And mine. Mostly mine, honestly, but yours matters, too.
10. DESCRIBE A POSITIVE TEACHING EXPERIENCE YOU HAD AND WHAT YOU DID.
Learning magic was always a pain. I remember my tutor, Kamek, had a lot of trouble teaching me. So I decided his way of teaching was dumb and decided to teach myself!
11. DESCRIBE A NEGATIVE TEACHING EXPERIENCE YOU HAD AND WHAT YOU DID TO TURN IT AROUND.
Easy, back when I was learning magic. It was the start of when I decided to just teach myself. I needed to cast magic and hit a target. In the end, I just breathed fire on it until it was nothin' but ash! Results are what matters!
12. DESCRIBE A NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH A COWORKER AND HOW YOU HANDLED IT.
I challenged them to a go kart race and ran circles around 'em!
13. HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR CURRENT BOSS OR SUPERVISOR WOULD DESCRIBE YOUR JOB PERFORMANCE? A perfect ten out of ten! (He's his own boss so not...technically a lie, but not really truthful either.)
14. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE YOUR GREATEST TEACHING STRENGTHS?
I don't give up! Ever!
15. WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST TEACHING WEAKNESSES?
Obviously that I care too much. Duh. (LIE)
16. ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF ACADEMY FACULTY IS PROTECTING STUDENTS FROM THAT WHICH MIGHT DO THEM HARM. TELL US HOW EQUIPPED YOU ARE TO DO THIS.
Look at me REALLY CLOSELY and then ask me that again, pal.
17. WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO SACRIFICE FOR YOUR STUDENTS?
The collateral damage that'll happen when I beat someone's face in the ground for trying to hurt my students. That it for questions?
